In this RV Tip, we want to provide you with information that will help you make the best choices when picking an RV Park.

Finding the right RV park

  1. Locate an RV park near the location you are planning to visit.
  2. Check the RV parks website for information for:
    • Rates
    • Payment options
    • Amenities
    • Pet policy
    • Park rules/policies
    • WiFi
    • Area attractions
    • Directions
  3. Check if the RV park provides discounts for any RV discount clubs
  4. It is important to read reviews on the RV park before making a reservation. You might find that the park is not what you think. You can read reviews on many different sites. My favorite sites are:
  5. If you have any questions, call the RV park to get clarification.

Making your RV park reservation

  1. Make your reservations as far in advance as possible. Try to at least make the reservations two weeks in advance.
  2. Call the RV park to make your reservations. Some RV Parks have an online reservations system. I recommend you call the park so you can ask questions.
  3. Ask about the different types of spaces available.
  4. Ask if the sites are pull through or back in.
  5. Verify the check-in/check-out times.
  6. Validate what information the park needs for your pet(s). This might include vaccination records, ect..
  7. Check the cancellation policy. You never know when something might come up and you need to cancel your visit.
  8. Unfortunately, most RV Parks require a credit card number to make the reservation. Be careful when giving out your credit card number. I use a credit card with a very low limit when making reservations, then change to my primary payment method when I pay for the stay. You never know who is on the other end of the line.
Note: When using your credit card to make online reservations, ensure the website is secure, by looking for the “Lock Symble” beside the URL.
  9. Write down the information concerning your reservation including:
    • RV Park Name
    • Park Address
    • RV Park Phone Number
    • RV Park Website Address
    • The name of the person you spoke to
    • Reservation Dates
    • Confirmation Number
